  • The Minuteman Household Hazardous Waste Facility usually hosts eight annual collection events. 

    Registration is required and closes 24 hours before each collection event or when the event is full, whichever happens first. 

    Events are typically held at the Hartwell Avenue Composting Facility from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM unless specified otherwise. The September 17, 2025, event will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

    Only residents from the following member communities can register for these events: Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Waltham, Watertown, and Winchester. 

    Accepted items include household cleaners, oil-based paints & stains, pool, lawn & garden chemicals, automotive products, propane tanks, and more. A full list of accepted items is posted on the Town of Lexington's website. 

    Items we will not accept include:

    • Water-based paints (Latex, Acrylic, Vinyl, Chalk)
    • Commercial hazardous waste
    • Empty aerosol cans
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors
    • Medical waste (needles, syringes, prescription drugs)
    • Tires
    • Electronics
    • Alkaline Batteries

    Please complete this registration form to secure your spot at an upcoming collection event. 

  • Our drop-off schedule is divided into 30-minute increments.

    If you select 3:00 PM, your time slot is 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM. If you select 5:30 PM, your time slot is 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

    IMPORTANT: You will be required to provide proof of residence when you arrive. Please have your driver's license or another valid form of identification ready to prevent delays. 

  • Please review these important collection event reminders to help reduce wait times, promote public safety, and ensure regulatory compliance.

    • Have your ID and proof of residency ready when you arrive
    • Remain in your vehicle at all times. 
    • Place all hazardous waste in the trunk of your vehicle (or the bed of a pick-up truck). 
    • Containers used to transport waste will not be returned. 
    • REMINDER: Water-based paints will NOT be accepted.
